Over the last couple days, the internet community as a whole has developed many theories as to what the “montauk monster” really is or if it is even a real creature or not. The most appealing to me has been the theory of a decomposed raccoon… Now I know what you are saying, but the following picture courtesy of animachina.com seems to paint a pretty good argument for this possibly being a raccoon if it is indeed a real photo of a real animal found on the beaches of montauk.
See for yourself:
Now I am not saying this is definitive proof, but it is the best explaination yet besides it being a latex creature set up for a publicity stunt.
I will post more information as it becomes available.
Other strange things have been showing up on the shores of Long Island as well…
Ok well maybe this one is a hoax, but who wouldn’t want to see a bull mastifrus?

after working for a taxidermist and skinning out a racoon, i would have to say this is in fact a racoon, for the sheer fact that most of the nose on a racoon is cartilage…but what really gave it away was the close up of the hands. since racoons have what is an apposable thumb which enables them to hold fish in their hands.
Also it looks bloated from being out in the water along with missing hair, it could be either from the water removing the hair because a dead corpse of an animal can get slippage which is a term to describe hair coming off and it comes off in clumps. or the animal could have had mange which is a mite which causes the animal irritation to the skin causing it to scratch it’s hair off.
Also it could not be a turtle, turtles shells are attached to their backbone and if the shell is removed so is alot of flesh and muscle and bone.

Turtles don’t have teeth, it’s definitely not a turtle. I agree with the raccoon theory though.

I can really see the Raccoon theory, and so far that is the best explanation, but as I keep looking at this photo matched against actual raccoon pictures and such, I must say it just seems off, in the face and a few other spots. Yet then again I never really look at decomposing raccoon corpses, so I suppose with the water doing damage to its body and such this just may very well be a raccoon, and as I stated is the best explanation so far.

There Is only one way to prove this and that is to hook up a fresh-dead racoon with a GPS thing and throw it in the ocean and fish it out every few days, see what it looks like, and compare it to the monster.

I found a raccoon in a the desert near my house,
I suppose a coyote got to it… but its face was all ripped apart and it had been sitting there for a while. Its flesh looked quite similar to the Montauk monster! I’m pretty sure thats what it could be. and the shape of its body even though torn in half was alot similar and it was bald in many places.
